Step 3: How do I apply?
To apply, simply follow these 3 steps:
- Fill out the correct application forms and sign them.
- Include check or money order for the appropriate application fees. The fee for a Smog Check Station License is $100.
- Mail the application and fee to the address on the application.

What if there is a problem with my application?
If there is a problem with your application or review process, you may receive a Deficiency Letter from BAR requesting clarification or further information. Usually the Deficiency Letter can be faxed back to BAR with the requested information, to speed up the process. If you receive a Deficiency Letter, your inspection can not be scheduled until the deficiencies in your application are resolved.
Warning: These forms must be submitted to the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) at the address listed on the application. An original signature and date are required. It is your responsibility to ensure that you complete the entire application and submit it with the correct fees. Submission of incomplete or incorrect applications will result in the delay of processing your application.
