Step 1: When do I have to renew my Brake/Lamp Station License?

All Brake/Lamp Station Licenses must be renewed each year. Your license expiration date will correspond with your ARD registration expiration date.

You may receive a Courtesy Notice from BAR to remind you that your license is about to expire.

Warning: It is your responsibility to renew your Brake/Lamp Station License regardless of whether you receive a Courtesy Notice from BAR.

What if I am late?

When you are late renewing your Brake/Lamp station license:

  • If your license is delinquent 1-30 days, you will be required to pay a $2.50 delinquency fee along with your annual renewal fee. If your license is expired you are no longer authorized conduct business. Please contact the BAR Licensing Unit at (916) 255-3145 if you suspect that your license is delinquent, or if you have any questions about your license.
  • If you are over 30 days from the date your license expires, you will be required to start over with the initial license application and fees.
  • You are not authorized to conduct business with a delinquent Brake/Lamp licensed.
