Vehicle Registration Amnesty Program




The Vehicle Registration Amnesty Program was established under AB 2461 (Emmerson, Chapter 388, Statutes of 2010). It allows qualified owners of vehicles to correctly register the vehicle as a Specially Constructed Vehicle (SPCNS) with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in cases where the vehicle's value was under-reported and/or its make was incorrectly reported. In return, the Amnesty Program protects the owner against any possible prosecution for having previously registered the vehicle incorrectly with the DMV.
